The universities in USA are like the universities in the movie "american pie"?

I'm a brazilian student, 18, at university of rio de janeiro.. What I'd like to know is how similar is college in the USA to what we see in movies like American Pie? I know that these movies are a HUGE exaggeration, but how similar is? Thanks for any useful response
