Do you think it is cruel to put a safety harness on a child?

No it is not cruel. My daughter is 2 and goes in a harness in certain instances. If we go to a park (play kind or just gr kind) she runs off to her hearts content because I can see her and she knows not to go too far away and always usually comes back when I ask her to, this is where I teach her...not a crowded town/city centre or zoo. There are too many people and if she wanders a bit too far and can't see you or you can't see them then fear can set in. Lets face it we are responsible for the safety of our children. Once I know that my daughter understands the dangers of cars and some people then I will be happier for her to stop using the harness. It is NOT a leash unless you use it that way. When she is on the harness she walks by herself until she pulls in the opposite direction at which point I stop...I don't drag or yank at her I tell her thats not the way we are going until she goes in the right direction. Ignore the people who give you filthy looks because you aren't conforming to their idea of right and wrong. You are teaching your child in a different way as long as you are not harming your child and they are safe thats what counts. Sometimes you are damned if you do and damned if you don't, if one of your kids went missing plenty of these people will be quick off the mark to tell you you should have done things differently and that you weren't looking out for your children. Go with your gut and do whats safest for your children.

I'm trying to mail merge from an excel file to a word doent. However, when I select the .xls from the 'select recipients' menu; I cannot see all the fields in the excel table (but in some older files I can...). My son is 13 he just got a cell phone from his , is he too young?

My son is 13 and in the eighth grade and just recently got a cell phone from his father. Last night I thought he was asleep, but I always check on my kids before I go to bed. It was pretty early around 10:30 but he went to bed @9 so I thought. When I turned on the light to the room I saw that he was texting and had his phone under the pillow. I felt weird. Trade advice for a NHL fantasy hockey league?

Tough one. Look at it this way, Duchene and Raymond are awesome, but your going to have to drop someone if you go through with it, and none of your players will be "easy to drop." Parise will get you 70+ points for sure as a LW which is a position your lacking, but New Jersey isn't doing well as of late, so he may be a decreasing stock. Duchene is still a rookie, and is considered risky simply because he is not as experienced, but my guess is he'll rack up a lot of points considering he's a top center on Colorado, which they are doing pretty good as of late. Raymond is still somewhat of a newbie too so he is a bit of a risk as well. I am sure he wont rack up as much as Parise but will come close. Its a pretty fair trade, I have a feeling Duchene won't feel the sophmore slump, so I say go for it, then maybe use Spezza as trade bait for a good LW so you can even out your lines a bit.

Friends drifting away as I'm pregnant?

Hi, my friend and I have been close for many years. We went everywhere together at school and were each other's chief bridesmaid when we got married, but things have changed. She lives an hour away now but we never see each other, or even speak that much. She has a busy social life and is career driven, like her husband and doesn't want kids yet; whereas I am family driven. I am now pregnant with my first child and I thought she would be excited, but she doesn't seem that interested. She said she was excited and I know pregnant women have a habit of harping on a bit, but I wanted to be able to talk to her about it. I'm the first of us friends to have a baby- it's exciting but also nerve wracking, especially when your body changes so much. We used to share everything but things have got a lot worse since I became pregnant. I feel like I've committed a crime! It was only recently she was checking out her own maternity policy at her new job and sounding broody, but now she's adamant she doesn't want them yet. Ears still equalizing even after diving 12/2/08?

Recently I joined an open water scuba cl and on the second pool I kept rising and diving too fast without equalizing my ears properly (this was only 10 feet deep of water) During this time my nose got clogged up causing pain in nose and ears I had to surface and I have canceled the cl despite this and not having dived or gone in water for 4 days my ears cannot stop pressurizing themselves every time I swallow should I seek a doctor?

This will only leave scars that will follow you. Don't break a bone intentionally. This can cause greater damage than what you were going for. It can damage nerves, puncture veins, and possibly leave you with a trail of corrctive surgeries.

Bad Feelings at a Local Cemetery?

There's a cemetery close to my house that has a wonderful duck/goose pond in it. I used to take my kids there when they were younger to feed all the birds. I was thinking about that today and I remembered something.. After we'd feed the birds, we'd drive around the cemetery looking for deer and black squirrels that were always running around. Whenever we drove past a certain mausoleum however, I'd either get sick to my stomach or get a stabbing headache. As soon as we ped the building my head or stomach would feel normal again. It actually works better to do this than to ignore him, unless he is unsafe. I am a toddler teacher and have a one year old african american girl in my cl. She is bright, healthy, happy, and probably in the 95th percentile for her age category. A few weeks ago, with no warning, she was admitted to the hospital for brain bleeding. She survived with a blood transfuion and came back to cl with no incident. The child is now back in the hospital and no details about her condition are forthcoming so far, but the hospital hotlined her condition and I was contacted twice by a social worker asking questions about bruise like spots upon her body and had I noticed any signs of liver damage. The only indications, though fairly common in this age range, were loose stools and a few lethargic moments, all which were not good indications. She had a great appetite, slept well at school, and played like any normal toddler. Her reaction to either parent has never given us cause for concern, nor has her behavior been indicative of abuse. Could this be sickle cell anemia? Are her doctors proscribing a cause to symptoms that could be something other than abuse? I respect her doctors, but perhaps they are looking in the wrong direction, if not every direction. What else could this be? Sporatic cerebral hemorrage, bruise like areas on her arms, hips, stomach, no nausea, little lethargy, no inications of pain? Please help, I love all my students and especially this little one, who is so bright and special.

Okay so I was really bored today and I was looking at wrestling videos on YouTube because I'm a WWE fan. And there was this one video where Undertaker tries to scare him brother Kane. But right at the part where Undertaker is supposed to come out, the Exorcist's picture pops up and scares the $HI+ out of me. So the it got me thinking back to a time when I was about 7 or 8 (I'm 14 now) and I always thought it was funny to jump out from behind corners and scare people. So my aunt decides to send me a screamer email because she supposedly thought I would like it. So I was young and I didn't really know how to check my email so I got my mom to do it for me. So we open the email together and first it says to turn your speakers way up, then it says something along these lines. "A long time ago a woman's husband went to war but was killed and she was never informed. So she waited by her window every day, expecting him to come back, but he never did. She died of loneliness. If you look between the table and the window you can still see her ghost looking for him. Wait about about 2 minutes and you should she her." So we wait and we wait and I start to get impatient, and I get really close to the screen and I go, "I think I see something right there!" And about 3 or 4 seconds after I said that, one of the scariest faces you will ever see just pops up and starts howling at me. And being a young child I naturally began to scream and my mom starts to laugh uncontrollably at my reaction. But then I just kept screaming and I started to go into shock and I just kept screaming and screaming and my mom tries to close the email but accidentally makes the face pop up again and then she moves me into the living room where I start crying, shaking, and every few seconds I sort of jump. After that my mom send a very, "strongly worded" phone call to my aunt. But I was just curious if anybody else has received this email at one point, and what were your reactions?

On XP all was well, I put it on a new computer with a terabyte of ram, and now the audio effects that are suppose to work with the directx audio does not work at all! What level of autisim could you predict my son to be?

I just want to have ideas on what level he might be. This past friday he went to a autisim evaluation. They did varies of things. He suprised me on some things. He can speak words, label objects,and understand what your saying. But, the thing with that is he cant say things like put the toy in my hand. They doctors were shocked about that. He scored high on things. My son is 3 1/2 yrs old. They did these regular blocks and had him imitate what the doctor had did and he cold do it. But, when it came to these sponge blocks, where it had one side yellow and the other side black. The picture showed 3 black squares on top, while 3 yellow squares on the bottom. The doctor did it herself and than told my son to do it. When he dit it, he flipped all the square things to the black side and lined them in a straight row and his eyes were goin back and forth with the line. He completely ignored the doctor than of what she was doing. He is very detailistic. He does self stimulating wiggling his toes back and forth and his fingers also at the same time. But he didnt do it there. Than they try to have him on up and showed him how to do it. But he couldnt. Also, the doctor showed him how to put a string in the paper hole twice. He would do the first hole but he would keep pulling. I told them they should see him with his cars. So, they got his cars out. He's lining them up like he always does. Than the doctors kept messing with his carsdestroying the line. My son got mad like stop it and started bangin the doctors hand with the toy car. It was funny tho. Than before we left I asked the 1 out 5 doctors there, So do you think he has autisim??? She ad yes but Mild Mild Mild autisim. Okay, so what does this mean? aspergers??? or what?? How can I use lead tape to get more "control" from my "power" racket?

Put a strip of lead tape on both sides of the frame and/or on the top and bottom of the frame. Make sure you put an equal amount of tape on each side of the racket. Also, be sure to put the same amount of tape that you put on the head of the racket on the throat area of the racket so that the balance will stay the same. Keep adding more tape untill you've found the weight you like. More weight equals more control. Don't worry about putting too much tape on, as you can remove it just as easily as you put it on.

When I'm stressed or anxious (which is alot of the time as of lately) I clean compulsively and run errands compulsively. For example, I'll make lists of things that need to be done that week, however I'll make sure I get them all done in one shot & like right then! My husband doesn't understand a lot of the time and gets very frustrated with the fact that I very rarely relax. It's affecting my life to where I'd rather clean and be productive than go out with friends or to a nice dinner... is this normal behavior or does this sound like OCD? Question for someone who knows about bacteria?

PLEASE take this question seriously and maturely!! I was bulimic a while ago. (Not anymore!) But when I was, I would take an old shirt and gag myself with it, forcing myself to throw up. I would take the vomit-covered shirt, put it in a plastic shopping bag, tie it up, and kind of just throw it into my walk in closet. This happened more than once... And I was too scared to put it in the garbage, in fear of my parents' reactions if they were to find it. Anyway, I noticed that after a week or so, the clothes started to smell of mold, and they had mold ON them. Also, A LOT of small fly-like insects were coming out of the bags..So my question is: Were the flies already in the house, and were attracted to the mold? Or were they somehow produced by the mold? btw, I threw all of the bags away in our large garbage bin outside on garbage day!

Help with my barbie sweet 16 partay!? (:?

Hi! I'm turning sixteen in less then three months and we've been planning this party for at least 3 months now. it's going to be at a venue at the hilton with a roon (all gl windows) overlooking the ocean. the color scheme is hot pink black and accented with white and silver. my entrance is going to be me walking into tik tok by kesha and i will be singing it while my closest friends are dancing a dance i choreographed. i still think my entrance might need a little more tho. any ideas? the tables will be decorated with white table clothes and black overlays with pink sequins, etc layed accross them the center pieces will be different barbies (ex: beach barbie on a base with sand and shells then down to the uniform pink/black base all have). i think my moms also getting custom candy bars made to put on the tables. the center of the venue is the dance floor and i think i need something to kind of play this up other then empty space. any idea? in the same allignment as the dance floor will be the dj and my cake on a light up table. the cake will be like a wedding cake but made to fit the theme. after the intro everyone will be able to get food which includes mini burgers, mini hotdogs, fries, sweet potatoe fries, chicken nuggets, etc. i wanted to stick with a mini BARBIE Q food theme. there will also be the normal beverages and special pink lemonade as my special barbie drink. after eating and maybe dancing a little i will do my father daughter dance to "erfly kisses" and "the hustle" mixed and then my friends and i will perform a coupled dance to "barbie girl". i will then light the 16 candles with my close people. its the whole tradition thing where u call up people who are important to you. we are making a candelabra because my mom used to do party stuff. it will be black and pink feathers then mirror then glittery black then pink letters spelling out my name and silver candles. after that we will do the cake and i will cut the cake to "sugar sugar". after that everyone will pretty much be free to dance all night. other details include there will be a candy and ice cream bar and they will be decorated with zebra table clothes and black overlays with a pink bottom with pink stuff on top. the guests will be allowed to take candy home as a favor. is there anything else i could do favor wise? oh and finally i have my design for invites but i want something special with them. like something touchable other then a piece of paper to say ur gonna have an awesome night. one girl ik is giving out masks for a masqurade. i dont want to ask my parents to buy 100 barbies but just something. i also wanted to get "barbie" to hand them out but that might be considered "distracting" at school so how would i do that? thanks in advance

Help! New mother cat just had leg amputated! Kittens and mother all going crazy!?

The kittens are crying because they smell Mamma but are having trouble nursing from her. They need time to adjust. Mom doesn't like being in the cage with her kittens because you can see them in there. I would let her take them under the bed. She will probably settle down and let them try to nurse, which is the only thing that will help her start producing milk again. Mother cats have the instinct to hide their kittens and many will not nurse unless they feel well hidden, at least for awhile. Since she has been through so much and been away from her kittens for so long she should be allowed to take them into hiding. I would put the male cat in the cage if that is the only way to keep him away from her. She needs to feel safe from him. Male cats have been know to kill kittens because when the kittens are no longer nursing the mother will go into heat and that's exactly what he wants, even though he can't really do anything. Eventually, when she has settled in with her kittens, she may start to produce milk again. It may take awhile for her milk to start flowing again so you may need to sneak them away from her one at a time and feed them. You may be able to discontinue feeding them within a few days. You will need to watch for her to leave the kittens and then check them to see if their bellies feel full. She may already have gone into heat but allowing the kittens to nurse might pull her out of it. In a few weeks when the kittens are starting to be weaned she will go into heat again. Dad will try to mount her, grab her by the scruff of her neck and then stop and get a blank look in his eyes as if he forgot what it was he was going to do. It's kind of funny because that's exactly what he is thinking. Eventually he will stop trying. If the kittens don't seem to be getting any nourishment from Mom you will have to continue to feed them but they will start eating solid food sooner than normal. When they are three weeks old you can start offering them kitten food moistened with warm water. You can even mix in some canned cat food. If they are eating a lot of it you will want to mix their kitten formula in with it instead of warm water so they get all the nourishment they need. Hopefully you have been feeding them kitten formula like KMR because cow's milk will kill them. Human baby formula is even worse. Both have way too much iron in them for kittens and they will die of iron poisoning. I have raised many cats and orphaned animals as a volunteer for my vet. I have also raised many cats of my own. I am trained as a veterinary istant and animal rescue professional. Good luck!
