What's going on with this guy?

Ok, so I've like this guy for a while and I was pretty sure that he liked me too. Recently(like a few days ago) my friend called him and told him that I like him and he responded with something along the lines of She's about to go off to college, and my friend told him not to worry about it and to just ask me out. Well now at school he's been kind of avoiding me and he hasn't said anything to me since she told him that. It's kind of hurting my feelings that he can't even just act normal, he has to avoid me like I have cooties or something. He doesn't know that I know that he knows. What's going on? I don't wanna spend the last few weeks of school feeling like a loser. I thought that if he knew I liked him it would make me feel better but it's just made things worse for me.
